Why is why so important...

One of the first things we teach every learner on every training initiative or programme we offer is the 6 "Magic" Questions to life.

The one magic question we keep on stressing is the "WHY". Why? Because it is the why that makes us push through when things get tough, that makes us get up time and time again, that motivates us to keep on giving it our all. It is the WHY that makes sense of all our decisions and choices.

The WHY is the core and the motivation behind every decision we make, the rest are just the steps we take, the practical actions we implement to make our WHY a reality.

WHY is also THE MOST difficult questions to put into words, words that truly describe the emotion behind the goal we set or decision we made or reason why we joined a group, or fell in love or decided to become a business entrepreneur., or fight for the rights of all children, or...

Why is the emotional part of our brain - the limbic system that has no language, but makes all our emotional and gut decisions. The who, where, when & what is the neocortex part of our brain, the logic, the thinking, the language, the actional plans, the results. (HOW also falls into the limbic system according to the Golden Circle research on how humans operate.)

Simon Sinek has an excellent book and guide book on the topic of our WHY. he has the third most seen TED Talk on why we need to find our why, not only as individuals but especially as organisations - no matter the size of your business.

AkukhanYa's "WHY" had gone fuzzy over the past two years. Life happened and we forgot to measure WHAT we do and HOW we do it against our WHY we do it.

We found our core and our cause and our why again, and suddenly there is more joy in going to work every day. Our work makes sense again. our purpose has invigorated us again, which is the place where The KhuYa Campaign was born from.

What is YOUR WHY?

Do yourself a HUGE favour and read Simon Sinek's books or listen to his interviews or TED talks on YouTube.
